I was taken back by Ellen Page's speech about coming out and the pressures for young people who are unable to tell anyone they're gay or get scrutinised for coming out. At only 26 years old she speaks so much more sense than some people twice her age or even triple her age. From this speech i have so much respect for Ellen the way she prepared and given out this speech was so perfect, showing an incredible amount of respect for the people in the room who support human rights and are all there for the same reason and that is to make sure everyone is treated equality. The fact that humankind as a whole still have difficulty understanding that everybody should be treated equally whether they are gay, bisexual, lesbian, transgender, a sexual, black, white, like a lot of sex, like no sex the list is endless. Like Ellen said in her speech why can't we celebrate these differences and respect each other rather than interrogating each other for being different because different is good, different is interesting, different is unique, different is special.
Ellen's speech gave me chills and i want to make sure that her words are never forgotten. I hope that people will really feed from her speech and make sure they treat each other with kindness and care, not just with gay people but with everybody. She talks about the difficulty and the pain of coming out and how it doesn't get better for some people when they come out, people get neglected, beaten up, verbally abused, become homeless just for loving another gender, for being a bit different from the norm. What the hell is wrong with loving the same gender? How on earth does it have any sort of impact in your life? Because it doesn't, it has nothing to do with you. So stop using 'that's so gay' or 'homo' as an insult since it really is not. I just want everyone to just think before they speak and really understand what they are saying before they say it.
What really saddens me is that Ellen felt that she had to come out to the public because it was affecting her so much. No one should feel that they have to come up because people shouldn't even be bothered if someone else is gay, it really should not be an issue, it's no one else's business but your own. So if any of you feel as if you need to come out you don't, please don't force yourself or feel that you have to come out whether that's to family or friends. No matter how close they are to you it's none of their business.
Love is a special thing so make sure in a relationship with someone that you feel 100% comfortable with no matter what their gender. Never do anything for someone else's happiness because you should always put yourself before anyone else when it comes to happiness.
I hope this blog post helped you in some way possible, thank you for reading :)
well! she got a boy friend now you know ?? ellen page keep to her update ..been reading this and noticed you didn't highlight the fact that same sex or what ever union are unrealistic and a new norm for social behaviour, when someone get pass that youth age it becomes suicidal cause its a practice, countless of this sort of ppl have been dying of all sort of diseases and suicide, so you might want to think again about same sex engagement.
